Collection Container/Tube: Preferred: Lithium Heparin Light Green top tube.
Acceptable: SST tube. Tubes should be centrifuged and plasma/serum placed in an aliquot tube for shipping.
Specimen Volume: Minimum 0.5 mL
Shipping and Handling Instructions
Transport: Ambient Call Syracuse courier for a STAT pick up.
Send outs: Fill out Syracuse requisition and print a face sheet to bag with the specimen.
TAT: When received at Upstate - Stat: 90 minutes, Routine: 4 hours
Stability: Room Temperature - ASAP, Refrigerated - 7 days, Frozen - 1 year.
