Collection Requirements

Collect 2 full Lav EDTA tubes. Spin and separate within 2 hours of collection. Serum is acceptable as an alternate specimen but if supplemental testing is indicated, Lav EDTA tubes will need to be collected

Detection of p24 may be inhibited by biotin in the sample, causing false negative results in acute infection. Therefore, do not test samples from patients who are taking biotin.
