Collection Requirements

Collection Tube

  • Inpatients: Light Green Top (Lithium Heparin) Tube
  • Outpatients: Red Top SST or Yellow Top SST Tube

Minimum Volume: 1.0 mL serum or plasma
Collection Instructions:
1.    Centrifuge the specimen and separate the serum or plasma from cellular components within 2 hours of collection.
2.    If using a serum tube, allow the specimen to clot at room temperature before centrifugation.

Submission Tube: Original collection tube
Minimum Volume: 1.0 mL serum or plasma
Specimen Stability: Room Temperature 7 days,  Refrigerated 1 month.
