Collection Requirements
Collection Tube:
- Inpatients: Light Green Top (Lithium Heparin) Tube
- Outpatients: Red Top SST or Yellow Top SST Tube
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum or plasma
Collection Instructions: Centrifuge the specimen and separate the serum or plasma from cellular components within 2 hours of collection.
Shipping and Handling Instructions
Submission Tube: Original collection tube
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum or plasma
Specimen Stability: Stable for 4 days at ambient temperature, refrigerated, or frozen conditions.
Note: For tests performed at UHS Medical Oncology, refer to the laboratory handbook for specimen stability requirements.
Transport: Refrigerated.
